It's true what they say about Siquijor - it has its magic. But wow, I did not expect to fall in love with it! Now it holds a special place in my heart and I will always remember it fondly. But what we saw and experienced there was exactly what we wanted and needed, and I haven't stopped telling people about considering Siquijor as their next travel destination. And if you're curious how you can get travel from Manila to Siquijor via Dumaguete, here is a quick rundown.


After comparing flight prices to different local destinations, we found that a combination of a Manila to Dumaguete flight + a Dumaguete - Siquijor boat ended up well within budget. Choosing to go this route, however, meant taking an early morning flight because we expected a longer travel time.


We were supposed to book boat tickets online, but we were unsure what time we would arrive in Dumaguete as the weather then wasn't too cooperative so we were worried about not even being able to leave Dumaguete at all. But it was just our luck (or maybe one of us is 'jammy') that we arrived a little past 6AM, giving us enough time to travel to the port to catch the 7AM boat - which was the first trip out. From the Dumaguete airport, you will find trikes outside that can take you to the port. Their rates are posted on a tarpaulin, so it's all fixed. I believe we paid around P100+ to get to the port.


Once at the Dumaguete port, if you have not pre-booked a boat ticket, then you can easily line up at the ticket booth and get a ticket for a boat going to Siquijor. The boat travel is approximately an hour depending on water conditions.

Upon arrival at the Siquijor port, just walk out the gates and you will find a trike that can take you to the accommodation. We stayed in the San Juan area, which we really liked. But more on where we stayed and Siquijor adventure stories in my next post!
