Layering In A Tropical Country

I remember the time when I decided to turn this blog into a fashion blog. It was around the same year that a couple of other bloggers did the same--bloggers I eventually met and became friends with. We were all very eager to be experimental with our fashion. I tried out all sorts of styles and trends; from chunky bracelets, to print on print, to huge-ass rings, and even to layers. LAYERS. Plural. And we live in a tropical country. Ha!

While I may cringe when I look back at some of my outfits (and I'm sure I'll probably cringe at some of the outfits I've worn around this time, 5-7 years from now), I found the whole experience to be so much fun because we weren't afraid. We were all trying to discover our own personal style little by little.

Fast-forward to today and I feel like we've all somehow developed our own style that's very telling of our personalities. It's really fun for me to see what outfits the bloggers come up with next. As for me, one thing remains true--layers. Although, I do manage to keep it at bay now and only do it when necessary or for the love of the blog (and OOTD). LOL.

My latest layering obsession though are jackets. I know that's nothing new; it's obviously something we tend to reach for when the rainy days are upon us. But I don't think I've ever wanted (and bought) this many jackets in my life... and there are more that I'm eyeing. Right now, this champagne bomber jacket from Forever 21 is definitely at the top of my faves list.

Bomber Jacket: Forever 21 | White Buttondown Skirt: Bench | Lace-up Booties: Forever 21 | Choker: Royals Closet

Maybe I should just move to a cold country. Then again, having nearby beaches is a non-negotiable for me. LOL.

I know I just made fun of how much I used to layer (and still do), but it doesn't mean you can't do it when you live in a country with a climate like the Philippines. You just have to be sure that whatever outfit you put together, you feel comfortable with it. Because believe me, I've had my "it's okay, tiis-ganda na lang" moments and it was definitely a struggle. For me, it's all about moderation.

Have a great day, you guys!

xx,
Megann
